Italian domain names are available directly under .it, and are only available to EU citizens and companies. There is a contract which needs to be signed for the registration, and .it domain names can only be registered on a yearly basis.

National Insurance number / passport number of the companies legal representative.
Date of Birth of the companies legal representative.
Place of Birth of the companies legal representative (NOT just country).
Company Number.
VAT number.
The name servers used with an .it domain name need to be set up in advance.
Maximum length of an Italian domain name is 63 characters, and the minimum is 3 characters.
